Healthy skin – Positive You

Healthy Skin makes you confident about yourself and leads to a positive self Image, this holds true for men as well as women of all ages.

Make sure you are taking care of yours ..

  • Take some time off your busy schedule and spend some quality time for self analysis.Be conscious of the way you look and groom yourself. Use the mirror as a friend and understand your areas of concern. Do not criticize yourself at this point. Its normal to have dry, oily, combination skin with redness, blemishes, breakouts and even acne. Some of these can be deep rooted hormone issues , and you need to get yourself examined time to time to eliminate these problems from resurfacing time and again.
  • Eating the right kind of food can do you more good than any medicine, and go a long way in helping your body’s own healing forces. Eat a balanced diet that includes raw foods, plenty of yellow and orange vegetables (they contain beta carotene – a precursor to vitamin A). Foods high in sulfur such as garlic, onions, asparagus and eggs. Include fruits, seeds, grains and nuts. Have a healthy and balanced diet.
  • Sugar, available almost everywhere, is a great on-the-go exfoliate. If you’re out of town in a hotel and you didn’t pack exfoliator, try using the complimentary packs of sugar. Put a little bit in your hand with your face wash and voila!
  • Use sun protection in all seasons as the harmful UVA and UVB rays are always penetrating through to you even when you don’t see the bright sun.
  •  Some dry skin could be due to a lack of vitamins. Have cracks or sores at the corners of your mouth? The issue may be deeper than dry skin. You may have a Vitamin B or Iron deficiency. Make sure you’re taking the right vitamins to keep your skin healthy. A great multivitamin, calcium, omega 3s and folic acid (for women who could get pregnant…accidents happen!) is a great place to start.
  • Make up is a great aid to a flawless skin. You dont have to cake your face, less is more . Don’t go overboard with products. Learn how to use products depending on how much you can carry with ease. Your discomfort is visible , not only to you but to others as well. It can make or break your Image.
  • Makeup rules to follow for acne prone skin. If you’re prone to acne or skin-irritation, be vigilant about clean cosmetics. Only put makeup on when you have a freshly washed face to avoid getting bacteria in your cosmetics. And once a week, wash your cosmetic brushes. You don’t need a fancy brush cleanser, try using a regular makeup removing facial cleanser. This rule should be followed for all other skin types as well.
  • Make sure you prepare your skin by applying a good moisturizer according to your skin type before makeup application and follow the cleanser, toner, moisturizer rule before going to bed. Take professional help when needed to understand your skin type or the products you should use. Avoid buying products based on your instinct or because you like the advertising. Blindly following your favorite celebrity, branding the product might do more harm to your skin than good.
  • Keep your body hydrated at all times. Water is the best source. Avoid sugary fluids as they will create other imbalances in the body if consumed often .
  • Avoid following myths. A lot of things that work or don’t work with others, may work differently with you. No two people are alike, hence knowing what will work for you is the best remedy than following what works for others.
